Places to stay in Yumthang Valley

There are no real Yumthang Valley hotels where you could stay due to the area’s closeness to Chinese Tibet, its year-round chill and government restrictions on tourist movement. There is also a permanent forest rest house in the valley, but you will have to take prior permission to stay overnight as well as access it. That leaves one viable lodging option, one of the hotels or resorts in the town of Lachung, an hour’s drive from the valley.

Montanamar Lachung

While not as famous as Yumthang Valley Resort (which has now been closed), this is still a mountaintop luxury that should not be missed. It is surrounded by the beauties of nature and provides a comfortable stay and a homely atmosphere.
