Best time to visit Sikkim

It is important to know the best time to visit Sikkim as this North-Eastern state tops the wish-lists of several travelers. Sikkim is equally famed for its unmatched natural beauty guarded by Mount Khangchendzonga. You definitely don’t want to miss any of what it has to offer because of the weather. According to the Sikkim Tourism Board the best time to visit this state is during March to June or November to February. Nonetheless, every season possesses a unique glory which brings it a tourist season. With both monasteries and skyscrapers sharing the land, the region features a range of accommodations, traditional and modern, to suit your needs.

Summer in Sikkim (March – June)

7 Things to do in Sikkim and places to visit in Sikkim Summer months which are pleasant and beautiful in Sikkim. Ideal time to indulge in peace and a few days in the still nature. There is 5 to 25 degrees Celsius temperature range in these months with aromatic yet damp climate. The hot summer prevails across the rest of the country whereas Sikkim becomes the perfect escapade to dodge summer heat. In addition to the peace of mountaintop Buddhist monasteries such as Pemayangtse, you can also see the charm of colourful flora and beasts. Now is the ideal season for hiking enthusiasts.

Summer in Sikkim (May – June)

The monsoon in Sikkim is not easy at all. The state's rainfall is extremely heavy. They get slick, because the winding, mountainous roads are hazardous for driving. However, if you do plan to visit Sikkim during the monsoons, be prepared for a flexible itinerary as there are often major landslides. The rains, which start in the last week of June, peak in July. We made to believe that rain saturates the environment and makes it impossible to travel. However, if you just want to relax on a nice, comfortable balcony sipping a cup of coffee, you can definitely travel to Sikkim in the monsoon.

Best Time to Visit Sikkim (September – October)

Unlike the other Indian states and towns, North Sikkim has a unique autumn season. In Sikkim, when its neither too hot or chilly, then its best to be outside. Its October, autumn is here, and the temperature is 15-20 degree Celsius. From visitors to Sikkim these months, the viewing of the Khangchendzonga mountain range — the third-highest peak in the world — is amply clear. The lakes at high altitude and the view of the beautiful cascades look even more beautiful. This is the best time to indulge into adventure activities as it is the post-monsoon and the pre-winter set up.

Sikkim in Winter (November – February)

That makes for a rather unusual mood in the region (but in a way that adds value to your vacation) during the winter. There is a kind of rugged beauty to the desert. In the winter, down to 4, 7 degrees Celsius, which can be torturous. Snow capped mountains are your constant backdrop companion. The lakes continue to bite into the alluring attractiveness of Sikkim even if they freeze over. In winter it gets infinite, vast amounts of snow. For snow lovers, Pelling, Lachung, Gangtok and the Yumthang valley appear to be perfect snow-covered dream destinations. This creates some of the most compelling views in the country as a result, difficult to find anywhere else.
